Before you write

• A file that won’t open: attach it, or paste the first twenty lines
• A diagram that fails: the app shows the diagram’s source in place — paste that
• Something looks wrong: the theme name and the app version help

The usual answers

Nothing is loading / a spinner

There isn’t one. Mdown makes no network requests, so nothing can hang on a connection. If a document looks stuck, it is a parsing problem in that file — send it and it becomes a test case.

The extension doesn’t open local files

Chrome hides local files from extensions until you allow it: open chrome://extensions, find Mdown, and turn on “Allow access to file URLs”. The extension’s welcome screen walks through the same step.

How do I make Mdown the default for .md files?

On macOS, Settings → Behavior lists the file types Mdown handles and offers to make it the default reader for them. Quick Look works regardless: press Space on a Markdown file in the Finder.

Deleting my data

Everything Mdown stores — reading positions, recents, settings — lives on your device. Removing the app or the extension removes it. There is no account and nothing on a server; see Privacy.

Refunds, subscriptions, restore purchases

None of these exist. Mdown is free, has no in-app purchases and no paid tier, so there is nothing to restore or cancel.
